Some of you may be wondering who that naked guy blowing the conch shell was on our last post. Well, after much back and forth, we decided to go ahead and commission a sculptor to capture my physical form in bronze to display at the wedding. I think he kinda skimped on my quads, honestly, but what are you gonna do? Other than that, though, we’re both pleased with the portrayal. Personally I’m just glad to be able to get back to my normal life, I had to stand in that position for two and a half weeks!
All joking aside, that was actually the Greek god Triton, the messenger of the big sea and the namesake of our beautiful boat. He is the son of Poseidon and Amphitrite, god and goddess of the sea respectively. He is usually represented as a merman, and by blowing his conch, he can either raise or lower the sea at will. Hopefully he will look down with kindness upon our journey.
Much more information about mighty Triton can be found here on Wikipedia.
